New long-range control box for portable DR systems launched

VCsecurity, a division of VisiConsult X-ray Systems & Solutions, launches an upgraded advanced control unit in two market-oriented configurations for its own portable X-ray systems in the security sector. Several systems that contain the new components were already ordered by Asian and EU security operators. Others, had the opportunity to discover the latest development up close at the Enforce Tac expo in Nuremberg.

Security professionals know about the safety factor of high distance with a secure connection at the same time. But every user has their own ideas how a powerful control unit should look like. This was the result of VCsecurity's customer feedback that was based on dozens of interviews with experienced specialists. Based on this input, the control unit was developed, the eBoxLight. By professionals, for professionals

VCsecurity product developer Benno Braasch explains: "The close contact with the customers gave us valuable insight for our development: "The eBoxLight is currently offered in two options: from a light and cost effective model to a robust military grade model. Both are IP 67 certified and offer high reliability. “

CBNW - X-ray integration for ROVs

LT COL LUDWIG PERGOVACZ EXPLAINS THE METHODS TO INTEGRATE PORTABLE X-RAY SYSTEMS WITH REMOTELY OPERATED VEHICLES (ROVS) AND ASKS: C-ARM, CHASSIS MOUNTING, OR BOTH?

Preparation is everything

In a normal scenario, the ROV will be supplied in advance with the suitable accessories that are integrated without damaging or limiting the ROV’s capabilities to perform its normal mission: to conduct an examination remotely from a large distance without putting the operatoror others at risk, while driving overor even climbing obstacles.

Integrating the ROV, X-ray systems and other accessories requires a close cooperation between all suppliers. That way all parts can perfectly be integrated physically and technologically without any interference between them.

Swiss Army knife of ROV mounting

The most popular and common integration method between ROV and portable system is the C-arm, specifically designed to firmly mount the panel and source to the ROV manipulator....

Ludwig Pergovacz

Ludwig Pergovacz starts at VCsecurity

Lieutenant Colonel (German Air Force Reserves (GAFR) Ludwig Pergovacz joined VCsecurity, a division of X-ray specialist VisiConsult, in February. His responsibilities include sales activities in the DACH and Benelux regions.

Pergovacz's first military assignment was 25 years ago. Since then, he has gained military experience through foreign deployments and various command and staff assignments on a regular basis.  In addition to his long sales experience, this is a helpful basis for responding to individual customer needs in public safety. These are in complex contexts and usually result from the customer's tactics, application and strategic use. Whether it's an X-ray source or a detector, VCsecurity's customers work in a security-critical area. When operating they need everything to meet their specific requirements. Pergovacz explains, "The logic of us offering our customers the best solutions and equipping them with it,  comes from the life-threatening scenarios. And in particularly critical cases, someone from our team will go to the customer and support where they can."

In addition to his sales responsibilities for the DACH and Benelux regions, he will also contribute to the development of the solutions through his industry-relevant feedback.

10 years of experience in the defense industry qualifies him in the best possible way to do so and he explains, "Especially the trend of digitalization, has been tightend by the pandemic factor, so VCsecurity will work on that among others. The scans taken by the user should be able to be forwarded in real time to other places for interpretation, including also the user's colleagues. The specialist should no longer have to be alone with a difficult interpretation."

Things remain exciting at VCsecurity. Would you like to get in touch with your new contact person? Please send an email to l.pergovacz@visiconsult.de

CBNW - X-ray integration

VCSECURITY PRESENTS A SOPHISTICATED SOLUTION FOR COUNTER-IED PROFESSIONALS AND EXPLAINS HOW COMBINED RADIOGRAPHY SYSTEMS CAN EFFECTIVELY MEET OPERATIONAL NEEDS

Compact DR systems

In recent years portable X-ray systems have become more compact, sophisticated and rugged. Along with a significant decrease in cost and the growing need for full ROV (remotely operated vehicle) integration without degraded capabilities, they are now the preferred choice for operators.

Designed for durable field operation, the main aspect of such a system is an amorphous silicon (a-Si) flat panel which allows fast high-quality inspection, including organic/inorganic detection.

The panel is available in several dimensions – designed for outdoor operation with low weight. It is a mere 15-17 mm in thickness, it is IP67 rated, and has been drop-tested from 1 m – and can endure a weight of up to 300 kg.

It can be packed with all the requisite accessories in a portable rugged case (up to 25-30 kg) or a light tactical backpack. Usually paired with a lightweight X-ray source...

The Robot with X-ray eyes

VCSECURITY EXAMINES EOD ROBOT AND X-RAY INTEGRATION TO INCREASE COUNTER-IED MISSION CAPABILITIES.

In this article, we will look at how they can be integrated into a single system without hindering each systems capability. To accomplish this type of integration we must first look at the capabilities of each system and how they can be integrated without degrading or limiting either tool in its ability to perform its normal mission.

To begin the integration process, you have to understand each system’s mission when deployed by bomb technicians. This level of understanding will ensure that when each system is integrated, none of the original functions or capabilities are negated.

The problem with most integration packages is, these fundamental requirements are not addressed. This leaves the operators with a tool that has degraded capabilities. Therefore, let us look at each tool and develop a list of mission capabilities that must remain available to the end user...

Increasing prison security using
portable X-ray systems

Prison security requirements are increasing as technology and prisoner’s sophistication evolve.

A prison in Columbia needed a solution to inspect the outside of the entrance, where dozens of new prisoners arrive with large bags containing their private stuff: food, sheets, mattresses and electric devices, which will not fit in the standard luggage scanners.

Another request from a prison in Guatemala was to scan the cell walls to make sure no money, weapon or mobile phones are hidden inside.

The solution for both missions and others is a portable X-ray system that can be deployed everywhere in minutes and is able to scan objects in different dimensions, shapes and density.

Using lightweight yet strong battery-operated portable X-ray sources allow to penetrate even thick walls, and a sophisticated software installed on a laptop allows to enhance and save the images so they can be used as evidence if needed. In order to make the process faster, it is possible to combine up to 9 flexible imaging plates, each in size of 36×43 cm and scan them all together in a very high resolution to cover large areas.

The system is designed to work in every weather condition or terrain and all parts are packed in a rugged and portable case. It is safe and only requires to keep several meters distance during operation. VCsecurity can offer several solutions to fit every client needs and budget.
